Our Home Inspection Process

It is important to understand that a home cannot fail an inspection. Professional home inspections are designed to give you an independent, unbiased view of any problems and possible solutions so that you have all of the information you need to make an informed decision. Home inspections need to be done methodically, comprehensively, and with great care for the findings to have the most value. This is something that our professionals understand, and they make sure to do this with every job.

Home Inspections – Covering the Property Thoroughly

When home inspections are carried out, we make sure that our inspectors cover the entire property, outside and inside, including all the rooms and spaces. This kind of thoroughness is important because if a particular space or area is missed, that might just be where the problems lie. This is why a complete house inspection should include all the different aspects of the home. Depending on the size and condition of the home, a thorough home inspection will usually take between two to three hours to complete.

During your inspection, your inspector will conduct a visual inspection of the following:

  • Foundation
  • Basement
  • Crawl Spaces
  • Drainage Systems
  • Floors, Walls, and Ceilings
  • Fireplaces and Chimneys
  • Attics
  • Roof
  • Exterior Surfaces
  • Gutters

Our professionals will also carefully scrutinize and test plumbing, electrical systems, air conditioning, furnaces and water heaters, light fixtures and bulbs, appliances that are integrated into surfaces, doors and windows.

Home Inspections – Your Participation

As much as possible, we invite clients to participate in the home inspection process walking along with the inspector throughout the home. This gives the inspector the opportunity to point out things to the client, while describing why those signs or observations are important. This can be of great help to the client later, when it comes to understanding and acting on the final report. This also allows clients to see firsthand just how comprehensive and thorough our home inspections are. Finally, we also welcome suggestions, comments, and other feedback from our clients, relating to the home inspections or to other areas of our service. This helps us to further improve and provide our customers with an even better experience.

Home Inspections – Understanding the Findings & Reports

Home Inspections for Buyers & Sellers

Once the home inspections are over, we provide our clients with a complete report. This will cover all of the different areas and systems in the house and list any findings in detail. If any problems were found, these will be described clearly in language that is both succinct and understandable. You will also receive an electronic copy of the report, to make it even easier to review and use as a reference.

United Home Inspectors also provides a telephone consultation at no additional charge after the inspection, so that any other questions or comments can be discussed.
